Ascending
This piece was composed to a video work which is a dreamy road trip through the Westfjords of Iceland. The video was filmed and edited by Tuuli Teelahti. It has been shown in the following exhibition spaces in Finland: Gallery Pimento, Oulu and Studio Mustanapa, Rovaniemi.
To Jump From the Edge of the Day
This piece was composed in Paris during the beginning of covid. There are recordings of the background sounds of Paris (church bells, birds) that became louder as the everyday life got more silent. It was composed to accompany Water Rituals-installation that was shown in Gallery Huuto in Helsinki in collaboration with Iiris-Lilja Kuosmanen in 2023.
From a House of Glass
This piano piece is from the first Water Rituals-album, that gathered all the piano compositions composed to Water Rituals- performance during 2018-2022. The melody came to Anniina in a dream where she was walking in a forest and suddenly saw and heard a man playing piano. She remembered the melody upon awakening and wrote it down.
New Beginning
This track was composed during Anniina’s residency period at Cité Internationale des Arts in Paris in 2021. Some aspects of her personal life and the outside reality were crumbling down because of covid and she felt the inspiring residency period as a new beginning. The music video to this song was shot in Mazzano Romano, Italy by filmmaker Marko Vuorinen.
The Beast Days are Over
Anniina finished this track during her residency period in Villa Karo, Bénin. The hypnotic and primal rhythm fits the West-African atmosphere. She made a video to this track in collaboration with two local dancers and a filmmaker.
Dolphins
Dolphins is a watery and melancholic ambient electro track that was made in Iceland. It was created from field recordings of thermal pools, the incessant strong wind and the erupting geysirs mixed with synth sounds and a beat, like an incessant heartbeat. This melancholic track grips your heart, but makes you want to dance at the same time. It captures the bittersweetness of life and the watery essence of Iceland. It was made to a video that was shot in an outdoor thermal pool near Reykjavik by Tuuli Teelahti. It’s also a part of the audio-visual work called Fleeting Symphony.
Phantom Lover
This song takes you to a haunting and delirious atmosphere through elements of dream pop, witch house and electronic. The haunting voice calls the lover to come back home. Despite the oppressive bassline and spooky voice and synth sounds it remains a playful and bouncy song.
